Historic optical instruments and the collection of the Optisches Museum Jena

The conference is held in cooperation with the Institute of History of Medicine, Natural Sciences and Technology “Ernst-Haeckel-Haus” of the Jena University and under the patronage of the Scientific Instrument Commission (SIC). On Saturday, October 13, 2012, Prof. Dr. Andreas Tünnermann, Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering, will hold the introduction lecture regarding current developments in the field of optics. Thereafter eleven further lectures will be held in the field of history of science of optical instruments. Some of these subjects include the Camera obscura or optical experiments in the field of vision around 1900, some extraordinary exhibits of the collection of the Optisches Museum such as solar microscopes, Nuremberg masterpieces or scientific daguerreotypes.
